A Special Report from the MedTourPress Team
For the MedTourPress team, which has been working in the tourism and wellness industry for seven years, attending international events has always been a strategy. In this way, the team can follow the most important and up-to-date developments in these industries and identify opportunities that can be used in the domestic business environment of these areas.
There was a strong presence of brands from Turkey and Iraq at the event.
This year, with the same goal and previous planning, MedTourPress not only attended the European Medical Tourism event (EMT), but also designed a masterclass entitled “Metaverse and Artificial Intelligence in the Healthcare Industry” which will be held on the second day.
The European Medical Tourism event, which was held near Venice last year, was held this year in the beautiful Tuscan region in the town of Chianciano Terme, 170 kilometers from Rome. The region, as its name suggests, is one of Italy’s hot springs and a destination for tourists who travel to Italy for wellness and spa treatments.
The event focused on the role of digital tools in the development of wellness tourism.
Although the three-hour drive from this city to Rome was one of the difficulties of this year’s event for participants, speakers, and exhibitors, the experience of seeing a small town in the central forests of Italy that has become a tourist destination with its hot springs was interesting for many businesses in this field. A city that houses dozens of hotels and a large number of spas and thermal centers, and is a prime example of wealth creation from wellness tourism.
Both senior managers of the Italian Ministry of Health and tourism managers of this country attended the opening ceremony of this event. One of the most interesting opening speeches was also made by the Mayor of Venice. The city where the event was held last year. The Mayor of Venice stressed that by extending the Venice-Florence railway line to Chianciano Terme, it is possible to attract some of the countless tourists of Venice to use the potential of wellness tourism in central Italy. A program that shows Italy’s greater efforts to generate wealth from healthcare tourism in the near future.
The European Medical Tourism event is a major event for the industry, bringing together companies and brands from around the world.
In addition to the specialized presentations of the key speakers of the event, which were focused on introducing the capacities of companies and brands or their countries, attention to the role of digital tools in the development of wellness tourism and the growing trends and future-oriented of this field was one of the important axes of the seventh event of European healthcare tourism.
Although the exhibition section on the first day was a bit empty due to the simultaneous occurrence of masterclasses and speeches, the presence of brands from countries such as Turkey, Iraq, and the Kurdish region of this country attracted attention. Iraqi brands that, when you spoke to them, regretted not knowing the therapeutic capacities of Iran very much, and with the restrictions that have recently been created with Turkey, their efforts were to send Iraqi patients for treatment to Europe.
The first day of the European Medical Tourism event ended with a dinner party and the awarding of prizes to the best brands in the industry, most of which were from European countries, Turkey, and South America.
